Need to know about teenagers punishment way without disrespecting them?

Teenagers have to earn respect to gain it. Any punishment can be dictated as disrespectful in a teens eyes. Don't try to please them or keep them happy with their punishment. It's called punishment for a reason!Need to know about teenagers punishment way without disrespecting them?
You need to make them understand why it is bad for example instead of saying ';if you smoke, I'll kick your head in'; you say why they shouldn't do it (cancer etc).

If it was something really that serious such as vandalism, robbery then the police would get involved, a night in jail should talk them out of doing it again.

Hitting, spanking, stealing, grounding, timeout just shows that the parent is just as immature as the child and can't control their own anger.Need to know about teenagers punishment way without disrespecting them?
Take their cell phone.

Limit computer use to homework only.

Ground them.

It's hard to give a punishment without know what the crime was.

If no one was, or could have been hurt in the process, just talk to them about what was done and why it was inappropriate.

If it's school related, no fun until things are back on track, or a tutor is assigned.
The older they are the bigger the punishment. A 16 year old knows the rules better than an 8 year old. I think it's more disrespectful to let them get away with it when they're older. It insults their intelligence to suggest that they didn't know any better.
Well, you give them the respect that they have earned.

I don't believe it's ';disrespecting'; someone to treat them like a ten year old if that's the way they act. It goes both ways.
take some of the stuff they do often and limit it. sit down with them and tell them what they did wrong, and maybe ask why they did it.
Sit them down and talk with them about what they did wrong, and why.
