In the US, who plays a bigger role in shaping teenagers' ethical beliefs, churches or schools?

';shaping'; here means : creating, influencing, educating, guiding :)In the US, who plays a bigger role in shaping teenagers' ethical beliefs, churches or schools?
neither; rather, the parents do. after all, they choose which schools and which churches, in most cases, at least until the later teen years. is it the same in China? In the US, who plays a bigger role in shaping teenagers' ethical beliefs, churches or schools?
As an American teen, I feel ashamed to admit it but my peers are definitely more influenced by school. I am Mormon (LDS) and my ethical beliefs are definitely defined by my religion.

However, this usually IS NOT the case.
1. Television

2. Peers in school

3. Parents %26amp; teachers
What ethics do schools teach anymore besides its ok not to stand for the pledge and expelling jewish kids because they want to wear there traditional headwear in school. Church/parents are definatly the biggest roles in a teens life as far as their ';ethical'; beliefs. while mtv conquers the outside of teenagers their church or parents tell their kids what and what not to believe in.
I think one's peers are the greatest influence. Go to Bible camp, camp with Jesus. Develop some common sense, hang out with smart, interesting people. Either way you will be influenced: Educated or brainwashed / guided or misled.
Nothing. really. Peer pressure influences them more nowadays.
i believe its a little of both in school you learn alot by your peers some good and some bad and church i guess here there are so many different beliefes its hard to know what to believe but most of us parents try our best to teach this at home like they say children only know what there taught and what best teacher then a parent
Neither, it would be family and friends. You dont go to church unless your parents take you and if you go to a public school the word ethics doesnt come to mind.
i think schools are. kids spend about 40hrs or more in school per week. they spend about 3 hours or less in church per week. they are around a larger group of teenagers in school.

The biggest influence should be played by parents. They had them, they need to their job and raise them. But to answer your question, schools play a bigger role than chruches. Considering that many teens are NOT catholic, or christian, or any derivative of catholicism... then it would be obvious that schools play a larger role in a teens part. But if you are asking about all religious institutions vs. the influence of schools, I would still have to say school. After all, school is attended five times a week, where as a ';house of god'; is attended usually once a week. There is a larger probability that schools are more influential. At least I hope they are.
HA! By HA! I mean oh so funny.
more kids go to school than church, so I'd say school, without a doubt.
