Do you think kids/teenagers should be dieting? Or should they enjoy food while they're young?

For example, I'm 16, 5'8 and 125 ish pounds. I don't eat cookies or junk food really, because I always think to myself that those are bad for me. My family says I miss out. Should I lighten up a bit, and enjoy it while I'm young...?Do you think kids/teenagers should be dieting? Or should they enjoy food while they're young?
People use the word ';diet'; too loosely. ';Diet'; should not and really does not mean restricting calories for a limited period of time; diet means a way of eating.

So yes, kids and teens should be dieting, in the sense that they are eating healthy foods with lots of fruits, veggies and whole grains.

No, do not lighten up. It is good that you stay away from those things, but if you want to indulge once in a blue moon, go ahead.Do you think kids/teenagers should be dieting? Or should they enjoy food while they're young?
dude...you have a perfect weight, you can eat junk food!! (just not so much! LOL)...you can enjoy all the nice things in life every once in a while, it's no biggie. But remember that EVERY extreme is bad...meaning that if you eat extremely small amounts it's bad, if you eat extremely big amounts it's bad...so just don't be so tight about that, eat those cookies!! LOL
Well kids should learn to enjoy them, but not so much so that when they are older they will be overweight. It all needs to be proportionalized to their appetite. If they want something sweet, some cookies. But not always. Enjoy them, but not too much!
It depends how well they can control themselves when it comes to eating junk food.
When I was 16 i ate mcdonalds 4 times a week in high school and was skinny as a rail because i was always out playing sports. Kids shouldn't have to worry about what they eat really just make sensible choices, but they definetly shouldn't being dieting they have no need to diet if they remain active and don't sit on the couch all day.
Junk food and cookies are not necessary. If you eat healthy and enjoy your food you do not need sugary foods. Eat what you like and that does not mean you must eat cookies just because others like them.

Too many people eat sugary and junk food but are not healthy because they lack nutrients to stay healthy.
Teens have great metabolisms, and most of them are quite active in sports. So junk food really shouldn't be a problem. Eat whatever you want.
No. You have some good habits going. I woulcnt change anything if i were you. You might get into some bad habits you may not be able to change when you get older.
its not so much dieting that kids should be doing, all the fast food and junk food will eventually catch up to you because all the salts sat fats and cholesteral in this food will build up EVENTUALLY. yes its all good but not good for you, if you dont want fat in your body dont put it in your mouth
Well, the foods you are eating now will determine things like how strong bones will be when you are older, and if they're not that strong, you are gonna develop arthritis when you're older.

Also, you shouldn't develop bad eating habits, or you're gonna find it VERY VERY hard to let go of them.

If you are that concerned about your health, you should lessen your junk food comsumption.
