OK, what you want is a ';reading bible'; - not any sort of ';study bible';.

Beyond that, it really depends on you. No one bible suits everyone! This site will guide you step by step in choosing the right bible version for you

http://www.BibleSelector.com

This will also be useful in helping you to make a final decision

If you want a ';rough and ready'; recommendation...

For Evangelical or Fundamentalist Christians: the HCSB or the NIV. The NIV is good for more traditional sorts (and more biased toward evangelicals). A ';thin'; bible will keep the weight down without making the letters too small to read. Don't get a reference bible! Don't get a compact (text is really small)!

The HCSB ';Ultrathin Varsity'; at the bottom of this list looks like it will work for you if you are the sort of Christian I mentioned

For Roman Catholics, the New Jerusalem Bible Standard Edition.

http://www.bibleselector.com/r_njb_re.ht…

Excellent scholarly translation formally approved by the Roman Catholic Church without all of the notes included in the New American Bible.

For members of the Anglican Communion, the Cambridge Standard Text REB

http://www.bibleselector.com/r_reb_apoc_…

For Orthodox, the Oxford Text Edition

For other denominations, you will need to get back to me with more information before I can offer an ';off the cuff'; recommendation. Stepping through the site at that first link should help you to narrow down the version very well. Once you've decided on the version, I will be happy to make precise recommendations.

Message... AAAAaaahhhhh!!!!!! Nooooo!!!!!

that is a trendy translation. i dont do trendy translations.

believe me the KJV is lighter because it is one of two original translations.

itis beautifully written, modern translations loose so much from the origianl copy.... itis scary, you knwo what i recommend a KJV bible, as you already havean easy reading copy. you need o witness what you are missing out on.

you can always check your other version for A View of any bit yu find hard, but you must think fr yourself.

thats theproblem with translations, they give a view, te bible is deeper than that in the origianl copy.

the writing in the KJv is lovely and you are easily able to understand and read it, the bits you dont you ask for help with, thats how it works, weaker translations dont work,

we need encouragement to talk aboutthe bible not a weaker translation, it is intellectual food. But more importantly it is Gods word,i have read alittle of the message and it is slack in my view, it scared me. The bible saved my life, so i cannot really explain enough the importance.

i ahve read versions that i was glad i was not using a the time.

You Will Need Adictionary, but Enjoy that yo Are reading And Learning, its educational, the blessign is much richer. You will see.
If you are serious about your faith you should learn Koine Greek and get yourself a basic text of just the New Testament.

If you read through the New Testament diligently you will at least know which are the right questions to ask.

Very few believers ever get so far; but then - they don't want to.
please stop reading the bible and going to church. i know you think you're being moral and you really believe it, but if you had half a brain you'd just give it up. it really is a dumb idea and we've grown out of it as a culture. just read cat's cradle instead, that will tell you everything.
English Standard Version. They also do a pocket-sized edition, which is obviously lightweight, but as you'd expect, the print is smaller than the regular size.
The best bible for teenagers is Richard Dawkins' ';The God Delusion.';

(stop allowing your parents to brainwash you....)

.
I had a hard time getting a GOOD copy of the scriptures recently. To avoid at least 2 of the 8 deviations to God's word, I bought the St. Joseph's edition. It may notbe perfect, but.
I thought there was supposed to be only one Bible.

If, in fact, there are many different Bibles, which one is supposed to be the true word of God?
this has got to be a joke

just get it on your iphone...that's what my daughter did
