Did most teenagers in the eighties wear neon shorts over leggings or skirts over leggings?

If they wore skirts what kind and how short?Did most teenagers in the eighties wear neon shorts over leggings or skirts over leggings?
We mostly wore skirts of varying lengths over leggings....anything from mini-skirts to longer peasant-style skirts. And back then, our ';mini'; skirts were longer than most of the ';miniature'; skirts girls wear today that barely cover their buns.

Only Olivia Newton John wannabees wore neon shorts.Did most teenagers in the eighties wear neon shorts over leggings or skirts over leggings?
Go rent some movies from the eighties. Try ';Heathers'; or even try to find some episodes of ';Degrassi Jr High.';
Because, it was the look! Skirts were often layered at a slant and mid-thigh length. Neon or day glo was a total fad, it lasted about six months in the early 80's. Try these movies for the current 80's retro look:

~Can't Buy Me Love

~Heathers

~Pretty In Pink

~Valley Girl

~Sixteen Candles
We wore brightly-colored cotton miniskirts over the leggings.

We thought we looked sooo good...why didn't somebody slap us? lol
no they wore bellbottoms
*blush* No!!....

OK, Yes. but they're really ashamed of it now and apologize for their fashon crimes.

Yeah, mostly the skirts as I remember. Denim and/or bright colored rayon type skirts were popular. All were about as long as your fingertips hanging down straight at your sides (but they seemed alot shorter then).

Take care, and thanks for dusting off those memories for me!
Please don't remind me, I'm trying to forget those horrible fashion victim days, actually I never did wear those but a lot and by a lot I mean too many people did wear those, as for the lenght of the skirts I'd have to say about knee length, maybe a little past them.
They were bluejean skirts and they weren't as short as they are today, but they were short.
Actually, they wore really long blouses or shirts over the leggings and then put a thick belt around the waist of the blouse. The belt was usually not a regular belt, but one that angled down in front. The shoes would have been either pumps, flats or athletic shoes depending on how casual or dressy the outfit was. If it is more casual, you could add a headband around the crown of your head. If it is a dressy outfit, add bright colorful beads that hang down to your chest area, big bright earrings, and a large clunky bracelet. Good luck with your costume.
Yeah, I did all that and more.
frilly skirts not too short
Skirts, for sure. As short as possible...that was kinda the point of the leggings, really.
skirts, silly
skirts, mini short short skirts.
fearslady's right about the shorts. I think ';ugh'; was the operative word. I generally kept my skirts just above my knees when I was wearing leggings.
nope. We wore leggins with long sweaters and a belt. To top it all off, don't forget the leg warmers and the super hair-sprayed hair with giant ridiculous ear-rings.

We thought we were hot ****. Now we're a novelty Halloween costume.

Go figure. In the 80's we were hippies for Halloween!
pretty much the same kinds as today, but not as fitted- it looks pretty stupid no matter what decade you're in.
And remember the things you put on the sides of your shirt? Like shirt tie things? And those shirts that canged colors with your body heat. Fun times.
